If there’s one thing 2020 has taught us, it’s about germs! Well, viruses really. And how quickly they can spread if thorough hygiene and cleaning measures aren’t in place.
At first, we were all a little astonished that people had to be told how to clean their hands properly. It felt a bit like going back to kindergarten. And then came the rise of hand sanitiser which remains an ‘accessory’ at almost every shop or business door you pass through.
But moving forward, what it comes down to is companies adhering to strict cleaning regulations put in place by the Government.
And this is why it’s vital to choose a reputable commercial cleaning company.
1. Are they experienced?
At this time when cleanliness is vital, and you can’t mess with cleaning, you want a company who’s established. Check their ABN to make sure they’ve been around for a while (and not just formed to ‘cash in’ on the pandemic cleaning). Take a look at their website and make sure they already work in your sector and understand the needs (and risks) of your facility and workers.
2. Do they come recommended?
Look at their testimonials and online reviews and don’t be scared to ask to contact current customers. Ask these customers if they have engaged the company and have no conflicts in providing a referral (i.e. not a friend or relative), what type of cleaning they provide, and if they are up to speed with COVID-response cleaning.
3. Do they have insurance?
You can request a copy of the company’s current policies and certificates to check they are covered for public liability insurance, WorkCover Insurance and a Workers Compensation Certificate of Currency. Legit businesses will have no issue in producing these to show you that they value safety for you, your workers and their workers.
4. Are they registered with the Labour Hire Authority?
If a business is supplying people to work in a business owned by another person, then they must have a licence to operate as a labour hire provider. This makes sure that the company is treating their employees fairly. You can rest assured that they being taken care of as employees, and therefore enjoy their job and will do their best at your office premises.
5. Are the cleaning technicians contractors or employees of the company?
It’s essential to make sure the people visiting your workplace are not only qualified but trustworthy. Ask if they are contractors or employees of the cleaning company. Eco-Green only use our own cleaning staff as it provides us with a higher level of quality control. We know our staff members and their high level of training, so we have no hesitation in allowing them to represent our business and help our clients.
6. Do they communicate clearly?
There may be times when you want extra jobs done (like windows, additional fridge clear-outs and cleans for holiday periods etc.), or give feedback on the work being performed, so you want to be able to talk to the cleaning company. Communication should be vital. The Eco-Green crew make sure our clients have a direct line of contact with the operating managers, both during business and after hours.
